Main responsibilities of MRI technicians also called as medical MRI technologists involve using magnetic resonance imaging scanners to take particular images that physician needs to set a patient's diagnosis. MRI technicians usually work in diagnostic imaging centers and hospitals. Jobs of these professionals may include an amount of physical activity due to the needed work with the machinery and maneuvering patients.

X-ray technicians capture specific images of internal organs and tissues of the body that are referred to x-rays. After that the results are discussed by radiologists, doctors or nurses with patients. X-ray technicians must be able to take accurate images of the inside of a human body. Images called X-rays help doctors to find out hidden deeply inside the body problems such as breaks, fractures and etc. It's of great importance because it's impossible to see these problems with the naked eye.

Mammography technician's job involves the production of mammograms. Using an advanced medical imaging technology these professionals examine breast tissue for tumors, cysts, lesions and other disease causing abnormalities. A mammogram technician must be able to create accurate images. These images help radiologists, oncologists and other doctors to set a proper diagnosis.

A specific diagnostic procedure that includes a capture of cross-sectional pictures of the human body with a help of special x-ray machinery is called computed tomography (CT). CT scanning, computerized axial tomography (CAT) or computerized tomography is a procedure when the CT computer displays these pictures as detailed images of bones, organs and other tissues.

Cardiovascular technicians help physicians to set diagnosis and treat "cardiac" or simply heart and "peripheral vascular" or blood vessel ailments. There are 3 main areas cardiovascular technologists may specialize in. These are: vascular sonography, invasive cardiology and cardiac sonography.

Among the duties of gastrointestinal radiologists are to examine patients’ organs using x-ray, fluoroscopic and other equipment, to diagnose illnesses based on the imaging. Students undergoing a course in GI radiography are taught to perform various radiographic procedures. Magnetic resonance imaging is used for multiplanar imaging without the use of radiation.
