Radiology Programs
The radiology programs are accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology. Additionally to its ocean campus on Phelan Avenue, the City College of San Francisco has ten campuses throughout the city San Francisco.
Associate in Science in Radiation Therapy Technology
Before the admission to the program, students must pass a physical examination and background check. There are also a number of classes which need to be completed before applying to the program, and they include chemistry, physics, algebra and physiology. The program takes twenty four months to complete and is designed to prepare students for the state licensure exams and national certification to work as a radiologic technologist.
The first semester introduces students to the field of medical radiography and radiation technology, as well as the current state of healthcare. The different kinds of radiation therapy, such as radiation oncology, are addressed in the program. The program is also training students to operate radiation therapy equipment.
Associate in Science in Diagnostic Medical Imaging
Only twelve to fifteen students are admitted into the program per year, so admission here is quite competitive. The program lasts thirty months and is full-time. Classroom discussions review radiation protection and medical imaging procedures. Students also learn about interventional and vascular pathology and radiography. Additionally to classroom study, students complete clinical training rotations at local hospitals.
Graduates are skilled in creating images that can be analyzed by physicians and other healthcare professionals and preparing patients for medical imaging procedures.

Associate in Science in Radiologic Technology
Program officials recommend this program to students with outside employment work no more than fifteen to twenty hours per week, since this is a full-time, two-year program. The program is designed to operate computerized medical imaging systems, as well as teach radiologic technology students how to interact with patients and office staff.
Students receive in-depth instruction on the various types of medical procedures that require radiologic technology. Instructors test students on their knowledge of the human anatomy to ensure that they can position patients correctly while performing an examination. Students practice imaging tests in a medical center or supervised clinical setting at an affiliated hospital.
