Ohio State University School of Allied Medical Professions

The Radiologic Sciences and Therapy program at the School of Allied Medical Professions in Columbus, Ohio, is designed to allow students to specialize in diagnostic medical sonography, radiation therapy or radiography. It’s possible for the students with little experience in the field of medical imaging to enroll in the traditional program in their junior year.

During their first and sophomore years, the students complete the general education requirements of the Ohio State university. The degree completion program is designed for the students who are certified by ARRT, ARDMS or NMTCBand imaging professionals .

The University of Cincinnati has a long history of providing the society with medical workers. The school was founded in 1819 as a medical college for Cincinnati residents. It joined the University System of Ohio in 1977. The school’s mission is to aid the citizens of Cincinnati and Ohio in their goal to obtain an new skillsand advanced education .

Associate of Applied Science in Radiologic Technology

This is a full-time, two-year program which includes general education classes, like social science and English, and radiology courses including basic radiologic technologyand radiographic pathology . In addition to that, students take classes in emergency first response and physiology and anatomy. A clinical practicum is also part of the curriculum.

During this program, students learn to properly position the patient and monitor their condition while using imaging equipment. The students learn how a radiologic technician’s skills assist in the diagnosis and treatment of illness or injury and develop an understanding of the radiologist’s needs. After successful completing of the associate’s degree students are qualified for the certification exam which is offered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

Columbus State Community College (CSCC) was founded in 1963. Majority if the programs at the school are two-year associate’s degree programs. Students can choose from over 55 programs many different fields, including medical science and radiology.

Limited Radiology Certificate

Students in the radiology certificate program study how to position a patient for proper radiographic imaging. The program was created to teach radiation equipment operationand protection standards.

Associate of Applied Science in Radiography

The associate’s degree program is designed to teach students to safely use the equipment associated with radiography, diagnostic imaging and fluoroscopy. Specialized areas in the field of radiography, which includes magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography, are also covered in this program.
