The Department of Radiology offers a number of educational opportunities for both those attending The University of Iowa and those affiliated with other institutions. We currently offer two residencies: one in Diagnostic Radiology and one in Nuclear Medicine. There are 7 different fellowships that are offered in the following specialties:

  • Body Imaging,
  • Breast Imaging,
  • Chest and Cardiovascular Imaging,
  • Interventional Neuroradiology,
  • Musculoskeletal Radiology,
  • Neuroradiology
  • and Pediatric Radiology.

For those currently enrolled in medical student education in the Carver College of Medicine, is offered a required short clerkship, as well as additional courses, research and externships for those wanting to learn more about radiology. Medical students from other institutions are also welcome to enroll in a number of these programs.

Several traineeships are available for Radiologists currently in practice. These traineeships provide Category 1 CME credit through the UI Carver College of Medicine.

For those seeking to train as technologists or participate in distance education or internships in technology, we offer excellent radiation science educational programs.

The Department of Radiology also maintains its own library, staffed with one full-time librarian, that provides a variety of resources and services for all Radiology faculty and staff.
